CENTRE FOR COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN ENGINEERING MANUFACTURING (CADEM)
CADEM is currently operating under the custody of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, UiTM with focus on:
- offering and promoting professional services to both academic and industrial sectors.
- becoming a hub for integrating and commercializing UiTM’s multidisciplinary science and technology expertise and experiences
With its position of being able to access relevant resources; highly skilled manpower, latest industrial sof tware and hardware, tools and equipment, CADEM is ser ving its objectives of fulf illing UiTM World Class University aspirations through:
- Academic linkages
- Industrial linkages
- Certified training program
- Seminar and short courses
- Consultancy works
- Contract research and development works
CADEM is collaborating with the UiTM- Industry Linkages Centre (UILC) and Institute of Research, Development and Commercialization (IRDC) for all its planned activities. With objectives to explore possible collaboration with industrial players, CADEM has initiated discussions with numerous industrial solution and service providers with updated technologies to support and facilitate its planned activities. The efforts are also aiming at of fering potential avenues for academic staff and students industrial placements by working on real industrial-related problems.
Since its inception in early 1990’s, CADEM has had invested primarily in acquiring industrial standard sof tware, hardware and machinery for its CAD, CAE and CAM academic and industrial activities. CADEM is currently equipped with the followings:
1. Computer Aided Design (CAD) packages
AutoCAD CATIA
2. Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) packages Cadmould
3. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) packages
Users can also make full use of other facilities within the jurisdiction of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FKM) such as material science, heat treatment, electron scanning microscope, wind tunnel, flight simulator, metrology, dynamics & control, automotive laboratories etc.
By virtue of CADEM’s linkage with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, UiTM, it has full access to the faculty’s vast expertise and facilities as shown;
1. Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) Turning CNC Milling CNC EDM Wire Cut Machine Fabrication Plastic Mould Design Press Works/Tool and Die Design Sheet Metal Design Metal Fabrication
2. Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) Finite Element Analysis Injection Moulding Analysis
3. Material Science and Mechanics Fracture and Failure Analysis NDT of Composite Materials Sample Preparation for Metallographic Obser vation and Introduction to Color Etching Scanning Electron Microscope Basic Heat Treatment and Thermal Analysis Material Analysis and Evaluation
As CADEM is progressively working with other faculties within UiTM and industrial partners, the scope of training and short courses are expected to expand in near future to cover for more engineering applications.
